| | | gaff tape works wonders here, that's what keeps my G50 pack on my strap.
the other achilles' heel of the system is the plastic TA4M jack, which can get stripped out and no longer hold the cable in securely.
this was my fix (and an absolute bitch to do, like open-heart surgery on a hamster!)
metal TA4M jack FTW! now my relay is rock-solid top to bottom!

Peace,
Greg

My Guitard: Some cheap Sennheiser.
That Sennheiser hisses and pops and is all plastic. It's a disaster that makes me lol.

They work well on Eneloop rechargeables(As do the Sennheiser G-series and Shure wireless units, our guitarists use those brands for now). They also work in TV remotes, cameras, and video game controllers.....AND...those nerdy-looking-but-quite-handy wear-on-your-head LED lights(3 AAA's).
What about that stupid straight jack? Replaced mine with a Shure WA304 cable. GC has them for about $20. I bought 2 in case and at our 7AM on a Saturday gig in 30 degree weather, the first one started acting funny(after 70+shows) so I just swapped in the spare....good to go. http://www.amazon.com/Shure-WA304-TA.../dp/B0002E1UTY WALTERW: GREAT JOB ON THE TAFM INSTALL!!! I may have to check into that if the one here has problems.

I have three of them. They work wonderfully! I hate using cables and will gladly keep using my G50. I am not sure why they give you a clip - it's pretty useless in my opinion.

The door is fine, however. Itīs just a bit tight and you need to push the slider hard to close it properly. If you ensure the slider is pushed fully, that door will not open by accident. The problem is some people donīt pay attention and leave it half way... and then it can open by itself if you move about a lot.

I just clip it onto my belt or if no belt, just slip it onto the waist of my pants. The cable is long enough from there. No problems with the connector at all. |

The battery door on my G50 broke also. I just use gaffers tape to hold it closed, but it's a weak point on these wireless units.

| | | | awesome!
the old version had the jack assembly on its own little circuit card that snapped into a socket on the main board; this meant the jack could be replaced without any soldering.
i don't suppose the new version is compatible with the old? if so, an upgrade would not be that hard.
hmm...i think an email to line 6 might be in order...

| | Supporting Member | | Join Date: May 2006 Location: Mendocino County, California | | | I picked up a used G50 and like it alot. Excellent sonic quality. Seems well built. I bought a high-grade bass connector cable. This morning I powered it up and it said "20 minutes" of time was left. I played through the 20 and there was 15 minutes of additional play time before power cut out. So it's also accurate in metering the battery life. No complaints at all about this one. Should have gone wireless a long time ago as I appreciate not tripping over the cable, especially when recording with a band in a small studio or at the gig. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
