Jens Becker Running Wild Sound

Hello,

I'm trying to reproduce Jens Becker's bass sound from his Running Wild era (especially the albums Port Royale and Death or Glory). Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWd_wiy4XKM

Unfortunately I don't even recognize his bass guitar in this live video..

Any insights?

if anyone is interested - I think the bass is a Yamaha RBX-5.

Ah pirate metal!

While I can't comment on any specifics, that's a phaser and delay in the intro.

His "clean" tone is very much in the Steve Harris camp so I'd say you could get close to copping it with some mild overdrive and heavy compression for starters.
