Latin Drum Machine?

Sign in to disble this ad
My band plays some Latin songs that would benefit from the addition of stock patterns played on guiro, clave, etc. Unfortunately, neither our conga player nor our drummer have a third set of hands, and we're not in a position to hire a third percussionist.

Is there an affordable electronic device that we can run through our PA to repeat Latin rhythmic phrases throughout a song? It's gotta sound credible, and be simple enough for our conga player to operate.

Thanks!

Any other solutions?

Is there a sampler to which I can connect a mic, record a measure of clave or guiro, and play it back through the PA?

Wish I could tell you what he was using. How about a bass drum pedal/wood block/cowbell rig? Don't most drum machines have latin rhythms? Or latin instruments at the very least?

i think the average good drum machine will do what you want.

you could also just run a mic into a loop pedal.

Thanks for your replies. I'd like to know what the "comedian" in the video is using; seems like it could be just what the doctor ordered.
