Live Setup Question - Bass/Keyboard/Mac/etc

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm strongly thinking about upgrading my live setup. Maybe you guys can give me some tips.

Here's what I have now:
Bass (Nash P-62)
Orange OR120
Orange 4x12
Akai MiniAK Keyboard
MacBook Pro

That's what I want:
-Running the Bass through Mac/Logic to the Amp (for Effects/Loops/etc)
-Running the Keyboard through Mac/Logic to the PA
-Using the Keyboard as Midi-Control in Logic
-Probably the ability to control Mac/Logic by footswitch

I want a clean, nice, affordable setup, which is also usable for small home recordings - what do I need?

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

Looks like you will need mainstage if you don't already have it,
the best possible interface (allowing the lowest latency) with at least 2 analog outputs and midi i/o,
and a footswitch controller (behringer fcb 1010 for example, or something along those lines).
I'll also suggest disabling the auto lock on the macbook pro hard drive, or going one further and installing a solid state hard drive(no moving parts). We've installed ss hard drives in all the live performance computers we use because even with the auto lock disengaged, we still had issues due to vibration form subs.
Affordable and reliable are a tough thing to put in the same sentence when using this type of technology.
