Live Sound Education at AES Convention

Sign in to disble this ad
I was asked almost a year ago to chair the live sound events at the upcoming Audio Engineering Society convention in San Francisco, which will take place October 2–5 at the Moscone Center. A special live sound symposium will take place on Wednesday, October 1.

The technical program of the convention will include many educational opportunities, including tutorials, workshops, panel discussions, technical paper presentations, technical tours, etc. Many of them are oriented fully (session numbers beginning in "L") or in part (session numbers beginning with other letters) toward live sound.

For more information, registratiion, etc., click on the image at the bottom of this post.

What a great program you have put together!

I'm on the program committee for the PBS Tech Conference preceding NAB. I know first hand how hard it is to put a solid conference together. I've got to get more active on the hard tech side again. That means SMPTE and AES.

Bob, let me give you a little advice...I've been to a lot of conventions, and I find the best conventions always have a couple bikini models onstage.

Thanks, Jim. It's a lot of work, but it's also a lot of fun.

Yup. And that certainly includes NAB. Holding it in Vegas doesn't hurt either...

NAB usually has companies--Sony, Ikegami, Bosch, etc.--showing off their cameras using brightly lit, very colorful sets that usually have a lovely model or two.

The eye candy at NAB is pretty impressive. I do enjoy hassling my sales buddies into getting stink eye from the models.

It isn't the same as it used to be, when we all headed out with a fistful of purchase orders and could wheel and deal on the show floor. Those days were WILD. Dag nab Sarbanes-Oxley.
