Mackie 808M power mixer(question)...

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking at a Mackie 808M power mixer. I have a question about the output of the mixer. I would be using two 8 ohm speakers as monitors on one channel and two 8 ohm speakers as FOH on the other channel. My question is what would be the output per channel?(4 ohms?)? I'm not familiar with how the power mixers are wired, that's the reason for my question...you got me straightened out on "ohms" for my bass amps(thanks). Below are the specs I've found:
600 watts per channel into 2 ohms
450 watts per channel into 4 ohms
300 watts per channel into 8 ohms
Also, is anyone familiar with this power mixer? Thanks.
This is how the "ad" reads...

Each 2 speakers will split 450 total watts. It's like your bass amp, but there are two channels.

My old band had the S version. Great portable powered mixer. Loud. You can have your 2 mains and 4 monitors. I love the 2 ohm capability. Too bad they discontinued it and came up with a lesser, unreliable unit. Add a powered sub and you have a nice portable PA.

Much more reliable than the new models.

The 808M has mono channels and the 808S has stereo channels. Both are very solid, reliable powered mixers.

Rock solid. I've owned several (some 808S) and none of them failed in any way. I had one with a broken EQ freq tip, but that was presumably due to something slamming into it.
