Mackie Thump TH-15A or Mackie SRM 450's???

Sign in to disble this ad
I originally ordered the 450's, but seen and read some reviews on the Mackie Thump TH-15A's. I like the 15' driver, but my question is, which is the better way to go? I have the 18' powered subs also to combine with either speaker. But for the money (which the Thump's are cheaper), stay with the 450's, or can the Thump's do the job also???
Thanks!

I don't think it would really matter, the 450's are good speakers, never heard the Thumps, but there is about 10 years technology between the model release dates and since you have subs either pair should perform well within their expected range.

Tough call without a fair A/B test.

The 15's should have better low end performance by themselves if need be...

If you have subs, stay with the 450's. I owned Mackie Thumps. They are ok, but pretty cheap.

stingraysvt and Stinsok,
Thanks for your replies and opinion's...even my wife said to stick with what we know, which are the 450's.

Have mixed with thumps. They are okay but are less expensive than the 450's for a reason. The 450's have more detail/clarity.
Thumps are not terrible but aimed more at entry level.

If you look at the specs on paper the the thump has a long term SPL of 113db. The 450are 124db. That means they would be able to get twice as loud.
