Can you suggest some microphones for less than 100 dollars?
Thanks,

I assume this is for cab micing though, in which case your a bit short for any flat response mics that are good for picking up a decent amount of low end so the standard thing to do is usually a 57 with a DI for the bottom end. If you can elaborate on what situation your gonna be using it for that'd get some better replies though, are you using it for micing up your own gear? Are you a soundguy looking for something for cab micing?

Vocal: Whatever matches everyone else's if you are all on a single monitor mix - having multiple types of vocal mic on a mix can be a nightmare. The SM58 is the most common. I much prefer any number of other affordable mics: PL80a (recently on special three for $150), 767a (used for under $75 shipped), E835/E935 (three packs sell for a nice price), OM3, OM6 (used).

They are solid performers (although I also prefer the E835) and the fact that sound guys won't fret over seeing one of these. Everyone knows what to expect from them. You do however need to take into account what everybody else in the band is using.

| | | | Fake SM85? Is there a way or a place a person could go to confirm whether or not a microphone was a fake or not? Just about everyone selling on Ebay gives at least a 3 day, no questions asked, window for returns, and most give 30 days. If you purchase a Shure SM58, you certainly have time to get it authenticated, if, in fact, that is possible to do. Anyone?

I'm currently using a Peavey PVM46, and AKG D5 that are working very well for both vocals and instruments as needed and both gotten for around $50 ea.
All of the above are supercardioid or hypercardioid pattern microphones and VERY resistant to feedback used live. |

Jack | Call Shure, see what they can do for you.
I'll bet they will tell you to buy only from an authorized reseller, and they will verify if who you are buying from is one.

They are selling a product that looks like the real thing but absolutely is not. At least they admit it, as opposed to the counterfitters who sell the same sort of thing but label and package it to look like and represent it as the original. Either you buy a real, genuine SM-58 or you buy a mic from another reputable manufacturer rather than a counterfit is my recommendation. Your moral compass may point differently though.
