Need help building some cabs...

Sign in to disble this ad
So my dad decided he was going to order a pair of Carvin NE18-8 drivers to use in a pair of subs, but doesn't know what dimensions to use in the cabs, or how to find them.

So, here I am...I need either a program to do this, or someone to take the specs and give me the dimensions or an internal volume....I'm really not sure what to do. I've already tried WinISD, but the specs Carvin gave me don't match up to what the program needs...here's what I've got, copied from the chart that carvin sent me.

Carvin NE18-8
Power (cont.)800W
Freq. Resp. 30-2KHz
Nom. Imp. 8
Re (Ohms) 6.3
Vc (dia./In.) 4
Le (mH) 1.97
Qms 4.88
Qes 0.54
Qts 0.48
Xmax (mm) 5.4
Eff % 1.9
Fs (Hz) 29
Mms (g) 168.43
Vas (L) 469.3
SPL (dB) 98

Is that enough to go from?

Thanks in advance guys

Check with Bill Fitzmaurice (TBer "billfitzmaurice). I'm sure he can steer you in the right direction. The box design will make or break your project!

I've used WinISD for several projects. When you enter driver parameters, make sure you enter the proper units of measure. If I remember right, the program allows for conversions between English and metric. If you entered that Vas spec as cubic feet, no wonder it didn't work.. Just something to double check..

Mutant Corn,
Have you thought about giving Carvin a call for advise?
