New to wireless...could I also use this Sennheiser vocal rig for bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
VERY VERY new to wireless. About to buy my first unit.
My primary need in wireless is for a decent headset mic and my research thus far is taking me to Sennheiser EW152 G3 system. Seems sturdy and the mic seems to be of decent quality.

Sennheiser USA - Stage - Wireless Headset - Cardioid Condenser Microphone - ew 152 G3 - Audio Wireless Systems - Professional Audio

Question:
Could I also use this rig for bass where I'm not concerned with moving around and/or singing? From the Sennheiser site, they're using the same transmitter and reciever for their guitar wireless system, so I assume yes. If so, however, I assume I need some sort of wire adapter thingy to go from my bass to the transmitter. What is that and where would I find one?

Thanks!

Yes you can. Can you solder? If so purchase following items
Length of choice of cable I suggest CanareG6 cable
Locking 3.5mm connector
1/4 male connector of choice
All items avail at Markertec
Cost to you about $15

Solder tip of 1/4 to center cable conductor
Shield to Ring of 1/4
On 3.5mm connector solder other end of cable center conductor to middle ring of connector and shield to ring

Good Luck

I do it all the time... don't forget to ask your vendor... they commonly will buy the kits then never sell them... it may be some type of factory distribution package.

Just to be clear, you want to use the same wireless rig to either sing through with the headset mic or play bass through with the adapter cable but not both at the same time?

When you use it with a headset mic you'll have to plug your bass in the old fashioned way. If you use it for bass then you'll need a regular mic/stand setup.

I understand its either/or and not both.

I jusgt bought one of these:

UpScale Canare Sennheiser Wireless Guitar Bass Cable - eBay (item 370487023572 end time Apr-23-11 08:39:57 PDT)

Looks quite nice with good materials/workmanship and I don't have the skeels to make to my standards...so why not.

Way to go! So much easier just buying the danged cable than it is making one. Not that for someone who does solder work on a near daily basis can't crank one out in five minutes, but for the inexperienced weekend bench tech, making a cable like this well is not as easy as working at Burger King for a few hours and going to the local music store and ordering one.
