no 8 ohm spec on the new peavey IPRs

Sign in to disble this ad
Can I assume the 8 ohm spec is half the power rating of the 4 ohm spec or are these amps not meant to push a 8 ohm load?

It won't be half ... more like 60-65%. An amp won't have a problem with a higher impedance, what is significant is the lowest impedance it's designed to handle, which is why you don't usually power ratings for 16 ohms in the ads ... manufacturers only want to post BIG numbers. Carvin likes to post its 2 ohm figures. Behringer likes to post .000000001 ohm figures (even tho the amp would fry)

Where have you looked?

Try this: http://www.peavey.com/search.cfm?c=3&term=ipr

If you need the bridged specs at 8 ohms, just double the 4 ohm single channel numbers.
