hi fellow TB-ers,just want to pick your brains concerning using the pa with active speakers.last weekend the singer brought a pa(pv 10 peavey mixing desk c/w 12" active speakers.she was told to keep the volume on the mixing desk up fairly high and to gradually increase the volume on the speakers.problem was the enormous amount of feed back when we did this.the knobs were extremely sensitive;you moved them a nano millimetre and they screamed.the room wasn't very big either.i would appreciate any feed back(no pun intended)on how to get round this problem.thank you.

This could be a number of things

Are the mics close to the speakers? What kind of mics are you using?

What kind of active speakers? Some have a switch/button for line or mic inputs. If the switch was in the mic position it would be too hot of signal causing the feedback.

Well they told you wrong! If you are plugging the mics straight into the active speaker then you use the mic position. If you use a mixer then you use the line position. What speaker are you using?

Did you mean PR-12s? Since you're in England maybe they are called Pro 12s over there. Anyway, I am pretty sure that was your problem post back and let us no if it works. Good Luck.
