Pauls sound in "A little help from me friends"

I need to get as close as possible to that lovely, tubby, tubular sound he gets in that tune............I have a Fender Jazz, A Fender Hot Rod P, an SX P and a Charvel 1b.

Which one will get me the closest? I've already ruled out the Charvel and the prolly the SX P. Did he use the Hofner for that recording?

Jazz with flats, picking style, palm muted a bit I would guess. I think he was using his RIC with flats for the most part in that era.

Thanks so much! What a great source......my PJ seems to be giving me the tone I need even with the rounds.
