Go to an audiologist and get custom Westone plugs. You can get 25db or 9db filters and they work *great*
I paid 140????? Much cheaper then a pair of ears.
They do subdue the volume a good amount, even the 9dbs, so they take a little getting used to. It is pretty bizarre not hearing much extraneous noise but just hearing the loudest things in the room and then taking out the plugs and getting your ears peeled off from volume.
I would like to use 6dbs but they don't exist.
To be clear; the molds will take any time of filter (9/25)

Two things about the Westones and any other custom plugs I know of:

They are virtually transparent to low frequencies, so everything will sound bass heavy.

If you sing, your voice will be very loud in your head compared to everything else except the bass.

Because everyone else is playing so freakin' LOUD that they even drown out the drummer?

As it turned out I ultimately opted out of this situation. I determined it was just too loud for fun jamming and didn't feel like playing bass along to a bunch of extended 'progressive rock' drum solos. I really could not see the drummer and I ever being on the same page long term. Super nice guy and a very good drummer I believe, but it was somewhat difficult to tell since all he was into was playing fast and hard. The earbuds helped immensely, but even then it was just a bit too much for a 53 year old classic rocker with still perfect hearing. I'd like to keep it that way
Despite the amazing jam space set up I decided to step away and wait for the right fit.
