Anyone have experience with this powered sub? The weight looks good and the reports I have seen so far seem positive.

(scroll down the page a bit)
(The powered version is the same but with an amp onboard)
I am just looking to beef up the kick a bit...

I never heard that one but I have an EV SXA180A that I use once in a while and it is big fun !!!!!
It's fun to hear the fundamentals once in a while !
I just can't fit it on the rack of my bicycle......

it's nice if it has a passive mode in case the internal amp dies. That's my only concern with powered speakers.

I agree-that would be a great feature. I must have ordered one of the last ones since it is now not on their website.
I will report back once I get it.
700 watts/18" @ only 77 pounds seems cool on paper...(less than $600 shipped too).

I wonder how many passive speakers have an integrated amp in case the racked mounted power amp dies ?

Well, I received it and I am impressed. Well built, tight sound, and pretty light. Good deal.
I never really considered Carvin stuff for PA gear, but if the rest of their line is built like this, they are a worthy competitor for mid-priced PA gear.

Do they even make such a sub?
