Radial ToneBone to ART Tube MP - will this drive my powered monitor?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am doing more and more gigs without a rig - quite often with IEM's and a powered monitor

I did a gig the other week where I couldn't use IEM's (long story), I didn't have a rig with me, so i tried to run out of my Tone Bone straight into my powered monitor. It worked, but the signal out of the TB is a DI signal, not a pre amp signal so i had to really crank the powered monitor to get reasonable level.

If a ran either the DI out or the unbalanced out from the Tone Bone to a ART Tube MP and then to the powered monitor, would the signal be hot enough to drive the monitor efficiently?

I am thinking yes but I just wanted to check with y'all...

I often use my bass straight into my powered monitor.

My active bass has enough output and usually active boxes have microphone sensibility input stage.

Some boxes have 1/4 input or just get a long enough unbalanced 1/4" to XLR-m (pin 2 hot)
Bass=>DI=>Monitor

I think the ToneBone (assuming BassBone) alone should be fine. Use the 'output' rather than 'balanced out' and crank the level.

I used my BassBone as a pre-amp (into a power amp) for 10 or so gigs a couple of years ago and had zero problems. In fact it sounded better than the SWR it was temporarily replacing.
