A really dopey, ignorant question about speaker stands...

....I just got a couple of Proline Speaker stands. They seem pretty cut & dry. But I have a dopey question:

Do you not "affix" the speaker to the stand, for lack of a better word? The reason I ask is that although the stands are quite sturdy, when I mount my monitors on them, there's nothing keeping the monitors from spinning around the stand. I'm not worried about practice, but concerned that in a live setting they'd get knocked about and spun around.

Oh, and they come with the adapter for 1.5" speaker/monitors, but my monitors are definitely 1 3/8."

Am I missing something?

My Behringer B212 speakers have a screw with a knob on the back that tightens against the stand. Some of the smaller ones don't have that. What kind of speakers do you have?

Hi.

IME they won't move, and if they do, it's easy enough to turn them back.

Make that Gaffa tape. No one sane uses duct tape anymore.

I've hit a guy for taping our leads with duct tape, and probably will in the future if someone tries that again.

Regards
Sam

Yup, use gaff tape to build up the diameter of the pole. Although, it shouldn't spin around anyway, as long as there is some strain relief on the cables.

We use these stands. They have a system that locks the boxes from inside of the mounting hole. Very sturdy and reliable IMO.

I suspect my cheapo monitors (Phonic) are the problem. Oh well, you get what you pay for right?

I was actually thinking of just wrapping some gaffer's tape 'round the tops of the stands. Seems like the best option at this point.

Thanks to all who chimed in.
