replacement foam material for INSIDE mic's grill

Hey folks,

Scored a cool old mic (AKG D330BT) & while cleaning it up it's inside foam completely disintegrated.

Does anyone have a source for that type thin foam?

Thanks!

Amazing what spit can desolve

A cheap way might be to take one of the foam covers made to go over the outside of a mic, and cut a piece of it to fix. Should be under $10 about any music store.

Thanks folks.

Internal foam was about 1/8" thick. The external foams I've seen are about 1/2" I think & it doesn't look like I could fit them in without a LOT of hacking & chopping. But I'll be using an external if I can't come close to restoring the internal foam.

I don't know if AKG would still source the parts; this model was likely discontinued about 25 years ago. Plus the part is likely to cost more than I paid for the mic.

If you need something in a hurry,
You could prob get a generic replacement "On Stage" brand sm58
Screen at somewhere like GC and take the foam lining out of it.

Just google it. I got a replacement foam for my Beta58 awhile ago that way. It was like $5 with shipping. You can cut it to fit in your mic.
