Shure Replacement Foams?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a pair of Shure earbuds...either the SLC3 or the SLC4 I think. Has anyone ordered replacement foams for them? Just wondering if there were more comfortable versions or what else would work with them. I have the black foams on them right now.

I couldn't keep those black or yellow foams in, but I reallly dig the tripple flange. I got replacement shure tips for my SCL5s from Amazon. They were pretty cheap. I also ordered some generic chinese tripple flange tips for my E2s, and those work well too.
As far as comfort, that's a personal thing. I don't know if any of them are the most comfortable, but I would rather have them stay in, regardless.

Do you have a link to the triple flange you got? Those will probably stay in better.

edit: I actually found the bag of all the foams that came when I bought the earbuds...so i will try out a few of these....the triple flanges were in there amongst other random foams...so i should be good for now.

Another vote for the triple flanges. When I had an SCL-3 pair (I currently have 315s), I cut the stem off them to get a deeper fit in my ears.

Cheers!

I have the orange foams.. about $20 a box... if you're going to keep using, I'd suggest Doctor made ear molds

I always hated the Shure tips. Be it the yellow ones, the black coated foam, or the clear plastic ones. Eventually I had custom molded earbuds made (went to an audiologist for the deep-ear impressions and then sent those off to Avery Sound to have the actual earbuds made). The different is orders of magnitude better. To say "night and day difference" doesn't begin to describe how much better it is with custom molds. You get much better sound isolation (~27db), so you can turn the volume of your source way down. When listening to my iPod, I typically have my volume at around the 35% mark.
