Hey, guys! Check my thinking on this, please.
A local band has started gigging pretty heavily and has purchased a small PA (350w stereo via powered mixer and 2 112's, mics and the usual
garbage) They know less than nothing about live sound, so I've been tapped to help them. I've got my work cut out. They want monitors, but don't have the power to run them, so I'm going to recommend they get a set of more powerful, active mains and sub, and use these 12's for monitors.
Shouldn't be difficult. The powered mixer has a mono and stereo preamp outputs, so I thought I'd just run a signal to the new sub and use the stereo high-pass outs to the respective mains. Kinda convoluted and not ideal, but as usual with musicians they bought, didn't read the manual, and now find that they don't have what they wanted.
They don't have much of a budget, so I think we're firmly in Berhinger, Nady, Tapco territory

But with careful use and proper EQ, I'm fairly confident I can help them get a good sound. Or, at least, better than they are getting now
