Some suggestions on Subwoofer please!(URGENT)

Hi guys,
Our praise and worship at my church has only used 2 speakers for the congregations and 1 "monitor"(a speaker used as a monitor) for all four of us (a guitar, bass, key and drum). I do not like how our team sounds because I can hardly hear my bass clearly( i play 5 string and the B string sounds horrible in this setup). Is there any recommendation for improvement? Is subwoofer really necessary as my fellow bassists have suggested?Any recommendation is welcome and appreciated!
Thanks

If you cannot hear the bass, you need a bass amp, not subs.

If the audience cannot hear the bass, then you might need subs.

I'd look for IEMs or more monitors. Subs will fill in teh bottom end, but wont do anything for clarity.

What's the frequency response of the speakers you have right now? If they don't go down to ~30Hz, that's your problem. If they do, your amps might not have wattage to handle the room loud enough.

Either way, a subwoofer with crossover might work for you. My church uses a dbx Drive Rack, it really works well.

But as seanm said, if the room hears you fine, it might just be an issue of needing better monitoring on stage.
