Soundman Cranked The Bass!

And it was awesome! Everything I played this past show was LOUD. The subs were booming and I had to remove a lot below 80hz along with a cut at 200hz just to hear something out of my cab - otherwise the subs swallowed it up!

I hit my open D string (not the low one) and oh my goodness! I never heard that string activate subs like that! I even talked to the soundguy about that and we were laughing about how loud it was! Sweet!

Don't even get me started on my low B string! Sheesh! NEVER HEARD that string so powerful - EVER!

Still could not get the mic and DI thing going, but....it's a small room with a lot of stage bleed and he did not mind a direct distortion signal...so who cares???!!!!

Had over 200 people going nuts for most of the show - can't beat that!

I am posting this half asleep and exhausted from two consecutive shows, plus this forum needed a "soundmen are awesome rant" for once...

This is why I'm looking forward to playing at church today. The soundman is a bass player. Can't wait.

Seems like you got to work with a pro soundman. The low end is king when I go see professional musicians play at concerts. This is why I can't understand the loud screeching dominating guitar sound most local bands have as their mix.
