Guitar acoustic player buddy of mine and I are getting our act together to do local brew pub gigs. The spaces are really tight and I think a conventional PA would be overkill and I don't care for the sound of the Passport style mini pa's, and I'm not investing in a Bose array thingy even if they are the cats pajamas.
There is an SWR California Blonde II for sale at the local shop. Used of coarse, but looks new. Am I wrong in thinking that my SWR workingman's 12 for bass and the Blonde for acoustic amplification and voice would get the job done? We are just a duo, of guitar and bass, kinda in the Hot Tuna style accept with 1/10th the talent....
The other thing we're considering is a powered 15" PA speaker to handle the vox and git. It seems a lot less "cool" but would it be better?
Anyway, what do you folks think?
