| | | | Thinking about an inexpensive wireless IEM system. Hi,
Ive been playing bass at church for several years and I have always had a hard time hearing myself because of the response of the wedge monitors, no bass when its pointed at me but everywhere else I was too loud. I just switched to one the church's wired IEM boxes and the difference was incredible, my only problem is that I don't like being tied so close to the IEM box and getting tangled up in so many cables so I thought I might try an inexpensive wireless system, I cant justify spending a whole lot of money on a system that gets used much more than every other weekend and without any kind of paycheck when I can use the wired IEMs for free and just deal with the fact that I cant move more than about 3 feet in any direction.
I was looking on ebay and found the Takstar WPM-100 but I wasn't sure how well they would work. Supposedly frequency response only goes down to 50 hz, if that is true it's pointless, so does anyone have any experience with these?
My other idea is to try a 3.5mm bluetooth transmitter and maybe try to use my phone for a receiver or buy some bluetooth ear-buds or a receiver to plug my ear buds into but I've heard that bluetooth has latency problems.
Does anyone have any suggestions on this?
Thanks,

I would prefer a belt pack so I have some slack in them and to make it easier to get on and off stage that way I just have to turn off my receiver instead of unplugging my ear buds or trying to fit them back in my ears.
Currently I run the wire and extension under my strap and down my back to the monitor box.

| | | I was trying to keep anything I spend under $100, I think I found something I might try since I will just plug the transmitter into the Rolls box.
Heres what I'm looking at, its cheap enough that even if it doesn't work well, I'm not out much. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-2-4GHz-W...item1e70986bbe

| | | | It might be out of your budget, but I rigged up a wireless IEM using a Line6 G30 for my wife when she was leading worship at church and didn't have a wireless IEM.
I basically hooked up a Line6 G30 in reverse -- the transmitter bug is connected to IEM output/soundboard, and the receiver is powered with 9V battery and clipped to my wife. The receiver output is strong enough to drive earphone without needing a headphone amp (although I did get one just in case). My wife likes it, so I assume it worked well!
The good side is, if you ever need a wireless system for your bass in the future, the G30 is a pretty decent one. |

There are ones that claim to have low latency, but I haven't tested those. |

Seems like it will work alright for what I need and it might work for you too. Not going to be wireless, but it seems to be a simple monitor system with mic input and through/instrument input and a line input each with seperate volume controls.
Oops, just noticed you were looking for a wireless option. Ignore that. Unless it still helps.

Thanks,

The good side is, if you ever need a wireless system for your bass in the future, the G30 is a pretty decent one. | I have a wireless that doesn't get used very often, but the receiver is way too big for this. I'm using a Nady 1001 MK2 when I do use it, its a half rack size. Going a little off topic but I don't see much of a sound quality difference between mine and the $300+ Sure systems that the church has, build quality is another story, the Nady isn't really made for frequent use and abuse and the belt clips are junk.

| | | | I purchased Takstar WPM-100 I recently purchased the wpm-100 in ear monitor system which included the transmitter and receiver. At first I was disappointed. You see, I am a performing musician with a full rock and roll band. We play at many different venues which are large and small.
What I found was that if you hooked the unit up to something which sent a stereo signal it worked rather well. However, most people who run monitors off of a mixing board choose to do so by using one of the 1/4 inch auxilaries which send a signal to the unit in mono and makes this unit sound terrible. I was not going to give up so easy so I purchase a 1/4 inch mono to 3.5mm stereo adapter. And like magic the unit sounded as good as it did when connected to a true stereo signal. No pops and no crackling.
Cheap plastic construction, but this is a good value for someone on a budget. Just be careful not to drop it! |
