Uh oh... Ideas please

So I play bass and sing in a 4 piece cover band. I run my MIA J bass through a combo amp. Last weekend we played a 5 hour set at a private party, and i had my amp running pretty hot so i could hear myself and I had it running through our PA. Our PA is set up nicely for what we do with Subs and Mains. I actually just ordered in the Shure PSM200 IEM system because i'd rather run that and save my ears (because I am going to school for music, i need them to work lol).
Now here is the problem... I just went downstairs and turned on my bass amp for the first time since our last show... I accidentally blew the speaker that night i guess...
I was think that I might just get a DI box and run my bass straight into our system, and push a good amount of my bass through my Aux mix, into my IEM.
Does this seem like a good idea?
I feel like I am rambling on and on in a stupid manner, but I'd love some ideas or some thoughts on this.
Would I be able to hear myself well enough without an amp on stage with my IEM? Should I run my signal through something before I DI it to the stage box?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

What kind of combo do you have? wattage ect.. If you run thru the PA, will the other band members be able to hear you? You said you had to crank your amp just to hear yourself. What about your drummer & guitar players? They need to hear you too. Subs & Mains may not cut it, depending on the gig / room your in. You may need an amp with more headroom (power)...

I play lots of shows with no amp - either just DI, or Sansamp as DI, or into my ADA MB-1 pre. These days I use a bit of bass in my floor monitor, but I used to use a Shure PSM-400 in ear system with the E5 buds - worked great. I'd say the most important thin in going that way is to use a decent quality (preferably dual driver) ear bud - the real cheap ones will make a difference as far as your bass sound is concerned.

The amp isn't exactly a combo amp, but it's set up as one. It is a peavey session bass head, with a 12" speaker in the bottom. 3 of the 4 guys in the band have IEM with great headphones, so they'll be able to hear me easily, and the other runs a floor monitor (becuase he hates earbuds...) We play all different size venues, we play anything from little 50 people private parties to picnics with 5,000 or so people. Without a bass amp, I know the audience will hear me without an issue. The psm200 comes with some pretty nice earbuds, I think its the shure SE115 or something like that, so I should hear myself fine hopefully.

What DI box or set up to our stage box do you guys think i should run?

what are you looking for in a di? want just a basic clean sound or the ability to use overdrive? want it to be really high end or just get the job done? you can find them in any price range from $25 for a cheap sounding but workable passive di to $2500 for a high end channel strip.

Well, I'm kind of short on cash, and need a DI box now lol
I know Behringer is a rather ****** brand, but this DI got pretty good reviews. Do you guys think this would work for the time being?
