Volume difference!

How can I solve the difference in volume between my 2 basses? I have a P-bass and a Schecter Stiletto. The P sounds best with volume on full, but that is much louder (in passive input) than my Schecter is on full volume (plugged into active input).

Is there a way to dampen the volume on my P without losing my tone or touching amp settings? Seems like there would be a pedal for this..... I just can't seem to find what I need:P. Maybe I just need a pup with a mellower output.....

Just so I can be clear.

You are plugging the Schecter in to an input that is padded down 10 or 15dB, and it is too quiet?

I can think of one thing to try right off the bat...

Don't plug the Schecter into the active input of your amp unless the bass has such high output it distorts the passive input. Otherwise you would need a dual input preamp with independent volume controls (there are several to choose from depending on whether you want a pedal or rackmount unit).

Radial Tonebone Bassbone - I use one for exactly the same reason. Plus it has a bunch of other nice features AND it has a very decent DI out

Yep, the Bassbone is made for this application. Another option would be a small mixer with hi-z inputs like the Allen and Heath ZED 10.
