What is your favorite bassline to soundcheck to?

I know lots of people, including myself, like to show off during soundcheck. Sometimes we play things that are horrible for a soundcheck, like slapping bass even though none of your songs have slapping in them. What is your favorite song to soundcheck to? Also, name a song that has an ethical bassline for soundcheck.

My favorites are "Billie Jean" or "The Trooper".

Be careful how you play. If you sound check playing slap the sound guy may set your levels to this; when you start playing finger style you will probably be very low in the mix.

I'm very aware of that, that's why I brought it up. The sound guys in my area suck anyway. They always make the bass way too low in the mix.

We made up a song called "SoundCheck" just for that purpose.

I usually play something by Bartók - one of the Rumanian Folk Dances solo lines or something similar. They never know what it is and it sounds like noodling to them.

I don't play tunes.

I just hit simple, solid, quarter notes.

Flipper - Sex Bomb. For ten minutes. Like the original.

Or I diddle around on Pink Floyd - Money.

Gratitude - by The Beastie Boys.

I have yet to play this at a show during soundcheck without someone yelling out the chorus right after.

YYZ or How Many More Times. Sometimes just noodling.

I definitely don't try to show off during soundcheck. I personally think it's silly when people do. To me, it's obvious if someone is doing that.

Normally, I'll just play something simple to get a good level. A few tunes I usually jam out are "One Weak" by Deftones or "I Got This" by E-Town Concrete. Cool bass riffs that most people don't know, but if they recognize them, they always get excited.

I play a couple lines with different feels from a couple of our tunes. Why bother sound checking to something you aren't actually going to play?

I always groove on Michael Jackson's " Shake Your Body Down To The Ground", just a simple groove.

About sound men:
Some sound men out in these parts of the woods/world have that Rock n Roll mix mentally for a bass guitarist (nothing against that, but). My bass guitar mix never has enough high end mix for me, nor mid punch, as I do like to slap once in a while.

Just last Saturday, we did a very good party for some Latvians, Estonians and Lithuanians, and out sound guy had bass sounding like it was in the land of the lost...what ever that means.
