What's your favorite mic for a bass cab?

I see a lot of discussion about mic vs Di, but not too many folks who mention what type of mic they use on their cab for live performance. What's your favorite, and why? How do you set it up? How well does it work for recording yourself at home or practices?

AKG D 112, Shure 57. Kick drum mics (the AKG) do well, but the 57 has been good for me, too.

Hi.

Sennheiser MD421
AKG D12

EV RE20 has been in my wishlist for a quite some time now, but since anything and everything has to be vintage for me and no-one sane will part with theirs, I keep on wishing .

Regards
Sam

Do you own/Use all of these regularly? Just wondering what I am missing between the D4 (I own it) and the Pr40, if any?

I never use a mic without a DI, and depend on the DI for the low end, so I generally use a non-bass-specific instrument mic, and I like the same mics I like for other jobs. A good mic is a good mic.

For live - Sennheiser e609, up next to the grille just off center of the speaker.

For recording - AEA R84 ribbon set in the same place.
