Wireless Systems + Active Bass= nono??

Is it true that even a crappy wireless system won't affect the tone of an active bass, because of impedence?? I don't want my bass sounding like a rhythm guitar, because that's what happens to my bass now with passive pickups, it turns to brittle, steel, and harsh tone.

This really should be in Live Sound. No one records with a wireless kit.

That being said, no, it's not true. Anything you put through it will be adversely affected by a bad wireless system, be it an active bass, a microphone, a keytar, or a piezo attached to your navel. Get a professional grade system or go back to cables. Anything else is a waste of time.

I record with a wireless all the time. lots of live cd's and dvd's.
The newer wireless systems have compensation available that will emulate the impedance of a cable for passive instruments. You could also use the Radial box between bass and transmitter that does the same thing.

I recommend to check out the (relatively) new X2 wireless systems now owned by Line 6. According to my knowledge, these are the cheapest wireless systems that work well for bass.

What you're running into is the limited bandwidth available while transmitting in FM. Switch to a digital wireless
