16th note, placement!

Hey I'm looking to develop better control of notes and muted notes in a 16th note "groove" tempo! I began with changing accents and muted notes on the 1 then the e on 2 "e", then the "and" on 3,e "and" then on the "a" on the 4,e,and "a". Any ideas on how to further develop this technique?

Sounds like you've got a good handle on it already.

If I'm playing staight 16ths I'll "pump" 'em by raising my left hand (fretboard) finger a little bit after each note. Not too much - just enough to make 'em a little more staccato - but not too staccato! Drives the groove.

Then, like you, I'll choose to accent notes here and there depending on what the drums are doing. I'll either accent what the drums are doing or play off of his holes.
