Just throw your ring finger in when you play. It's very useful for triplets and playing faster overall.

Check out 'Bass Exploration of Percy Jones' instructional video for a very interesting look at his 3 finger technique.
This is not your ordinary 3 finger technique!

Also, I would recommend John Myung's instructional video, that's where I learned it from. If you cant find it, it goes like this;
you play a pentatonic sclae(not necessaryl, just play any scale) playing each note twice. That is it for left hand

For the right, firts you alternate between index and middle finger , and then you alternate between index and ring finger, and finally you play with all three fingers.

"Just throw your ring finger in when you play" is good solid advice! Also, if you wanna learn some contrapuntal tapping, just play the bass part with your left hand and the melody with your right hand!

Flameknight_00, here's a lesson I wrote quite a ways back that should be helpful : 3-finger technique lesson

Use the info in that lesson together with these exercises

To really get your fingers working independently I really recommend this hand coordination exercise

These links are all in the lesson I posted, I thought I'd point them out since they're quite easy to miss in the text, since the URL-code seems to be malfuntioning for that page.

Good luck and be patient, this will take time.

Not sure about 3 finger picking, I only use 3 finger picking when I need to pick on one string fast (Like mindless punk riffs).

Otherwise, go here for a simple yet VERY effective 4 finger picking tutorial: http://www.harmony-central.com/Bass/...s/Hanging_Ten/

P.S. Just trying to help a fellow bassist. I hope I didn't break any rule by posting another site. If I have, feel free to remove this post. Cheers!
