2 Left hand questions (I don't play a left handed bass)...

I just wanted to know if any of you could tell me what a Left hand Mute and Left hand Slap is, and possibly how to do it... thanks, _-soto-_

Left-hand mute:

Put two or more left-hand fingers lighly (no pressing down) on the strings in order to mute strings or play dead notes.
Two or more fingers because that avoids unwanted harmonics.

Left-hand slap:

Hit the strings with loose-curved (neck radius) fingers, it gives a "thud".
Use several or all fingers to avoid harmonics and to get it louder, curving your fingers lets you hit all strings simultaneously, which also makes it louder.

i was wondering, with left hand slapping, do you use all your fingers?

i read somewhere else to lightly mute the strings with your index finger and slap with the other three?
