i just recently started practising 3 finger technique (ring, middle, index) and have begun to notice that im sounding my notes as triplets I need to stop this before it becomes a bad habit

what can i do to halt it right away? there must be some good exercises

You just need to practice where you put the accents. Get out your metronome, and practice going Strong-weak-Strong-weak while staying at the same tempo and alternating between the three fingers. Or do Strong-weak-weak-weak, or whatever. The point is that you need to practice where you put the accents (at a slow speed).
