Advice Please!!!

I've been playing bass for about 2 years and guitar for about 7. I've played in bands with guitar, but never bass, and finally a band has emailed me and asked me to audition. They're into classic rock ACDC Skynyrd and things like that. Do any of you guys have any advice of things I should do to prepare. I mean playing by myself and practicing has got my hands and arms into shape but playing in a group dynamic is a little new, so what are things I should focus on? I'm not nervous about learning new material or anything because I play either pick or finger equally and I pick things up fast, so any advice on playing with others and learning their feel and tempos?

Stand close to the drummer, hope he/she is decent, 'cause they'll mess you up if they're not. Lock onto that kit but hard. Easy to do in that genre. A present and accounted for bassline is better than wanking out riffs at this point. Give it to them solid and locked down with the kit. Actually i ususally stand to the side or front of the drummer so I can see the kick timing. Remember, as a bassist you are part of the time/groove machine in the mix.

DIG IN!

big +1 to that.

I played guitar as a bedroom wanker for a few years before being thrown into bass with a band. No bass experience at all. It took me a while to hold it down, but now I do just fine. You have more experience and the genre is easy, so you'll be ok if you play w. the drummer.
