So its in two weeks and the songs he picked out arent really meant for bass. He picked a bunch of rediculously challenging finger picking songs that he recorded and sent to me and wants me to learn them. Its really hard to have to make up a bass line to these types of songs and its gotten me extremely frustrated. What do you think i should do? |
Take it easy on yourself.
Just follow his chord changes with the tonic note of the same chord. If he plays a Cmaj7-13 (whatever the heck that is) just play the C.
When he changes to a Dm play a D.
Etc., etc.
Practice until you can play that way very smoothly. From there you can start adding notes or just leave it the way it is. It will sound fine.
