alternating pluck near neck and near bridge

Sometimes I need to swiftly alternate my plucks between near neck and near bridge. One note near neck, one note near bridge; or two near neck one near bridge etc. To do this, I would use my thumb for near neck, ring finger for bridge, and it would work. Though, my thumb is pretty calloused and getting a full soft sound near neck is becoming troublesome. Could you suggest anything else?
