Am i holding pick correctly?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've just started playing with a pick after years of playing with fingers. My problem is, under nail of my middle and ring are gettin sore from hitting off the strings as i play down strokes.apart from that i have no problems getting the sound i want or any thing. Maybe im holding the pick wrong? im holding it with index, middle and thumb, like in these pics. i find i have more strength holding it this way.

thanks in advance for any advice.

if youre scrapin your knuckknucks, just hold the pick so more of it sticks out

you might have to go to a thinner pick, but thats easy
