What do you guys think about anchoring your thumb on ONE string lower and TWO strings lower? I'm experimenting them both and one string lower seems like more agile while playing on one string only but when you want to go lower it kinda blocks you a bit on the way. I initially learned that two strings lower was the common/standard one-whatever you name it-, and that you should mute the next lower string with your non-plucking finger while alternating. I also noticed that raking is easier while anchoring on one string lower. And the tone slightly changes because when your thumb's on one string lower, the plucking angle is closer to 90 degrees on the other position is more like 45 degrees. Anyway i want to know what you think

Errrrrrr I never even looked at it in that much detail. I usually park on either the B or the E string, depending on which string is the highest one I'll play. Sometimes.....just play.....

1 string lower, 2 strings lower, thumb on pick up, thumb tip on body, pinky on bottom string, no finger rest ... Learn many ways to use your right (picking) hand & playing long songs or long sets will be easier. Each may sound a bit different which can add variety to your playing, too.
