Another question about drop tunings please.

C G C F A D. Is what the 2 guitarist are using. Music along the lines of Sick Puppies and Breaking Benjamins where a lot of the riffs are played on the open c. What should I tune to? 5 string beadg would seem to be frustrating sometimes impossible with the quick riffs for bridges and such. Should I retune the 5 string to something else (gcgcf)? If so what? Or should I tune a 4 string to Cgcf? If you have an idea of strings with an idea for tuning please help. Thanks guys.

Drop c (five or four, five being gcgcf) is the most logical, imo. before my band switched to drop d, i was complemplating a five, but was against becuase if you play with the guitarists (like i generally do) standard is hard

Do you need to drop tune too? Tuning to G or C traditionally will help if you have your intervals down.

That said, why should the guitarists have all the fun? I bet I could turn you on to a drop G set if you want.

@ knuckle":

Yeah I think drop tuning for me would be best for the fact that a lot of the riffs are built around that open low c "a la" breakin benjamin type stuff. I do know a fair bit about theory and can work my way around a fret board pretty decently. I've just never played a 5 and the band I've been in plays in standard so I'm just trying to weigh out my options for this new band that plays in cgcfad. How could you turn me on to a drop G set?
