Exactly. Practice is the only way. There are no shortcuts.

If you are having problems hitting more than one string, slow down. Start slowly, and once you can slap cleanly at a slow tempo, speed it up a little bit.

One of the secrets to slapping is using a light(!!!) touch.

Using too much force/strength is probably one of the most common mistakes that people make.
You don't need any strength at all to slap! It's all in the momentum, but you don't even need much of that.

It's good technique and dexterity you need - and taste

One thing that I can add is don't think about it to much just sit in front of the tv mute your strings and go. do this while your watching murder she wrote or whatever you prefer to watch Just keep you thumb straight and hit just hard enough to get a good thump. Practice slap then pop the octave It's usally easier to slap on the A string and pop on G just don't try to become a superstar overnight. You just need to get the basic mechanics down and then you can worry about coming up with somthing funky. Ok maybe that was more than one thing....... Just shut up and do it!!!!

Oh yeah buy the slap bass program

Try not to slap. Now that is hard!
