Anyone here used "newgrip.com" wrist straps?

I actually ran across this site while looking for better-padded cycling gloves. Normally I think of a page full of testimonials and yellow highlighting as a sign of bogusness (bogosity? bogue ma'thoin?) but I figured maybe somebody here has experience with them.

So, do ya? Your opinion?

Sounds like 1 part velcro, 1 part cotton, 3 parts snake oil.

I just wear these.

I bartend and they definitely help. No need to spend more than 2 or 3 dollars tops.

yep, i have a pair of these; but i bought them (actually the gloves) for lifting. http://www.newgrip.com/
i can't say how or why they'd work for playing, as i've never had wrist pains while playing. i can say they are the bees knees for lifting, I GREATLY prefer them to tradition lifting gloves.

Nope, the wrists are fine. But I stopped bicycling for about a year which is insane because up to that point I was a hardcore every-day cyclist. Long story. But anyway, I started back into cycling again recently and now my hands hurt badly from even modest length rides. The long-term solution is just to build those muscles back up by continuing to bike regularly. In the short term, I wanted some extra padding, and the other product that company makes is a big neoprene palm pad that attaches to the wrist straps, and it looked like it was worth trying, because regular bike gloves have lame inadequate padding.

I posted the wrist strap link/question here just because of their page all about musicians using the wrist straps.

Anyway I got a pair of the pad/strap "gloves", and they're pretty good. Anyone with a heavy-duty sewing machine could DIY them quite easily, but I don't have a heavy-duty sewing machine. The padding is not like "heavenly" or "cushy", but it is better than typical bike gloves. The straps are secure yet not uncomfortable. The open top/backs are nice in this hot weather.

The straps are just stiff/heavy cotton (not stretchy hardly at all) with velcro closure. I imagine they would actually be a lot more supportive than an ordinary flexy sweatband, for anyone who needs that kind of support.

All in all I pretty much got my money's worth, but I'm not raving like they're the best thing ever.

Mr. 'Mania, take a look at this bike link: Dutchness.

As for wrist support, I just use these or the Ace version. About half the price.

"Our wrist support for guitarists keep those nerves and tendons in line; the same way a capo keeps strings in line."

$14.99 for a pair isn't much, but it's probably 500% markup for a cotton/velcro bracelet that has no proven benefit.
