Anyone Shred: Whenever i play my bass solos i play it like Dave Mustaine, K.K. Downing, and of course Cliff Burton. So i went to Sam Ash earlier with a few of my buddies. I picked out a Spector 4 String and i plugged it into a Marshall Half Stack. Which was a guitar amp. I put the treble on 7 bass on 3 middle at 5 and i was on the classic gain channel which i had at max.any way i turned up the volume to about as high as all the other bassist who were slapping there asses off and when i started shredding u no just ripping up the fret broad they all shot me dirty looks. This nearly cracked me up cause i guess i didn't please them. Anyway i guess the point that i'm trying to get to is how to do ya'll feel about bass shredding like with gain?
To Clear this up I was not Attempting to get there attention or showing of in anyway

Bass should not equate to a low sounding guitar, differences should be made stylistically and tonally between the two. Then again, they invented the piccolo bass, so do what you please, but learn the "bass" side of "bass guitar" too man, master the instrument not just a style. (this is all IMO)

Beyond that, nothing wrong with a little shredding if it's on your own equipment.

Its a Guitar store, be respectful of the other people. Shred if you want, even though its pretty juvenile in my opinion, its not impressive to anyone with any sliver of talent.. and it can only be fun for so long.. |

Buy some weights to give it that feel, and throw some awesome dust in the cavity to make up for it being a guitar. |

To the OP, this is standard behavior for someone who recently started playing, usually came from guitar, and thinks that playing standard things found on guitar are considered "Holy" on bass because it's easier. I hate to pick on you, but soon enough you will find out that shred is not a display of talent but rather lack of practice. Until then, rock on. |
