I loved his style of solos. I say if you're gonna shred, do it through bass amps still, but there's nothing wrong with shredding out a solo on the bass as long as it's tastefully done. Just listen to Cliff's "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth" by Metallica, a song that's just one big bass solo. It's heavy on distortion, and just pure awesome.
Wrong. That song is one big guitar solo played on a bass. With poor quality distortion and not much skill behind it.

I like some of Metallica's stuff, but I just listened to that bass solo and do not like. Not very tasteful and it seems like a guitar solo, all in IMO. But, I can see that some might like it.

Now it definately does seem as if the OP is trolling.

But tbf, I don't consider Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) a shred solo. The fact it is distorted bass does not instantly mean it's a shred solo. Most of the song is a melodic composition at mid-pace.

Yea, I like to shred a bit!

Just have to say that the above link is just a bit of fun. I wouldn't do anything like that in the band enviroment, and would never attempt to try to play so busily. If I played like that, I would be stepping in, and on, other peoples roles.

Just a bit of fun.
