Attack hand technique

So a while ago, I injured my index finger pretty bad. I wasn't able to play bass with it, so I guess I adapted to the injury by playing with my middle and ring finger. The injury is long healed, but I was playing today and noticed that I still primarily favor my middle finger and the index kind of just hangs there a bit. I still use it alot (and the ring finger), but on slower parts of a bassline or on parts all on one string, I usually only use my middle finger. I just noticed this today.

I'm just curious, is this considered bad technique? Even if it is, I can play better if I do this, it feels more natural now.
