Bass Issues

Sign in to disble this ad
When i'm playing bass standing up, not only do i have troubles stretching out my pinky finger. But when i strum/pick/pluck (whatever you want to call it) i have issues. when i play i feel like my pick is sliding on my strings causing it to make a bad noise. it sounds like the pick is sliding. DONT LIKE IT
please help

IMHO you may raise (shorten) your strap so you'll get approximately same of your bass position either you're sitting or standing. Yes it may not be so cool looking to you, but it is.
If you want to use longer strap (that means lower bass position when you stand) then you'll have to put more time practice it that way than sit. But technically, it is a bit more difficult (to play standing with longer strap).

If your strap is too long, standing, and the neck is slanted upwards, your picking hand will have a harder time pushing the pick straight across the strings, giving you string noise if you are playing round-wounds.

If your bass is too low, you won't be able to stretch your fingers. Raise it up and get your wrist underneith the neck - it will be much easier
