I was thinking the other day because when I was about to join a music academy, they told me the place was full, and now I have to wait until next year for a spot to open, because there is also a wait list. Meanwhile, I want to learn on my own. I can't read music, (The first reason why I wanted to join that academy) so I thought of a more practical method (at least for me...) I want to learn songs that are hard, that will help me improve. The problem is I don't know where to start. So far, the hardest song I can do is YYZ, but that was a little extreme... it took me one month learning it. My goal is to learn at least one hard song every week or less.

Anybody suggestions for songs that I can learn?

Here're a few that I've found to be great brain food to learn:

6:00, Dream Theater (the doodly in the middle is really challenging, I needed tab to learn tho, and couldn't get the last 4 bars of it. Whole song can be done on a 4 string)

Elbow Grease, Niacin (I can only do the main lick and not for sustained periods of time. It's still a great right hand exercise)

Living in the past, Jethro Tull

Heightened Awareness, Steve Morse band.

Tempus Fugit, Yours is no disgrace, seen all good people, others by Yes

That was enough to keep me occupied for months, particularly on fretless.

And of course there're bazillions more by these same groups and others....

That's a great one !

Took me a while, but I think I've nailed it.

Another great one by Tull is "Bouree", especially the solo in the middle. Look it up on You Tube.
