no, the timing actually makes it a rather tricky lick imo

Not to be critical, but does anyone else feel that the instructor leaves something to be desired?.... like an overall understanding of what he's doing?

Comments like "Here's that octave thing" and "We're using G to G#" lead me to believe his talent as a player exceeds his gift as a teacher. Pretty humble guy, though - he's got that going for him.

Just like he says at the start, GO SLOW and don't get impatient about wanting to go fast. It will come in time.

Beginner Slap Bass Lesson: Slap Starting High
That is not a "beginner" lick, even at slower tempos. It's "intermediate", and when going at 130+ bpm, it's "expert", if of course it's played correctly.

Never heard of that guy.

Good Travis Bean bass, but kinda ugly. Is Kramer mixed up with that particular bass?

That was "lick 14" IIRC, so saying "octave thing" is likely OK, since that must have been covered in licks 1-13. And like most lick tapes, it's probably is not big on classical theory education.

So, there's no tablature or standard notation for it, and he's flying through it like a race... "that octave thing" - everybody knows what he means, but I'd still like to hear it referred to in something more formal...

So you're saying I've been wise to stay away from the lick tapes? Good to have my suspicions reaffirmed.

I'm pretty sure I'd have quite a bit of trouble with that, if I could pull it off at all.

nope, not easy at all

I'm a horrible slapper, but the way it's explained is what makes it hard IMO

This is definatly in the intermediate level.

Try leanrning "Thank you" by sly and the family stone. Very easy slap line.

That or select songs by the red hot chili peppers. The slap part to "storm in a teacup" isn't insanely chalenging.

Sorry, "Guitar Hero" levels have not permeated "Real Life" music. There is no Star Power to build up when you start to suck.

There are no more notes if you select "Expert".

To be fair on the guy, he probably covered those concepts like "the octave thing" earlier.
