better timing

How can I get a better timing?
I've been playing for 15 years and it's still not good enough.
I practice with and without a metronome, drum machine, record myself. I tried the metronome on the 2 and 4. I tried drums method ect...

Is there anything I can do or I'm a lost cause and I just need to accept it the way it is?

Try playing in the dark more often, but other than that... if it's been 15 years and you still have no rhythm, I don't know what to tell you

Are your lines too busy? Try very simple lines. Roots only.

Can you hum the line in time?

ooo that's an excellent suggestion. I was never entirely sure if I could play "the heckler" perfect until I could hum it with the muted hits.
