boing crunch sound

what's up everybody. I was hoping someone could suggest how I can get that really crunchy "boinging" type of sound from the bass (I'm not even sure if their is a technical way to describe the sound i'm after) anyways, you can hear this sound alot from metal bass players who use their fingers (ie cliff burton on master of puppets, digorgio with Death, Webster with Cannibal Corpse-especially on The Bleeding) To describe the sound more it's like the string's sends of a metallic "boiiiiing". I use DR strings med .45-.125 and I keep my mids and trebs around 7 and bass at 5. Any suggestions? thanks for any help-

I'm not sure what you're after. Can you post a soundclip?
Maybe it's just the sound of digging hard into strings with a low action?

are your strings new/still_clean, i by the way you describe it, i think you need good nice new strings.
