I can't seem to be able to breathe while I alternate pick, I keep holding my breath when the tempo gets too fast. Are there any tips anyone has to help me? |

Hey, no worries, pal, you'll survive. I do what you're talking about sometimes at various activities:
When focusing my telescope.
When lining up a board under the cut-off saw.
When maneuvering a tricky curve on my motorcycle.
When watching girls with those low-cut jeans dance at a gig.
Haven't passed out yet.

You might want to practice breating while playing slower and then work your way up. Just don't breathe faster when you play faster.
